John Schmitz is an operating executive at Crestview, the CEO of B-29 Advisors LLC and the chairman and CEO of Select Energy Services, a Fund II portfolio company. John is also CEO of Endurance Lift Holdings, LLC, chairman and co-founder of Silver Creek Oil and Gas and chairman of CP Energy Holdings, also Crestview portfolio companies. John is a lifelong entrepreneur and has founded and developed numerous successful businesses in the energy industry.
In the oilfield services space, John originally founded BSI Holdings, an integrated wellsite services provider. In 2003, he recapitalized the business into Complete Energy Services and continued to serve as a director and the North Texas division manager until it rebranded into Complete Production Services, which eventually went public in 2006. John also founded Allied Technology in 2005 and participated in the merger of that business into Forum Energy Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of oilfield products and related after-market technical services that went public in 2012. John continues to serve as a board member at Forum. In 2007, John founded Peak Oilfield Services, which ultimately became Select Energy Services through a series of acquisitions and organic growth.
John also has extensive experience in the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas. He founded HEP Oil Company in 1995 and purchased and developed the assets of Alta Natural Resources in 2010. In 2012, Crestview and John combined these two E&P companies to create Silver Creek Oil & Gas. In addition, John has acquired, developed and sold seven different acreage portfolios in the Barnett, Fayetteville and Eagle Ford shale plays over the past 15 years.
In the midstream space, John founded Cimarron Gathering, a midstream company focused on natural gas and crude oil gathering. He sold that business to Copano Energy in 2007. Furthermore, John co-founded Mesa Real Estate Partners, a real estate private equity fund that developed, purchased and leased properties used by companies in the oil and gas industry, and the properties were eventually sold to a publicly traded REIT.
