An attractive niche in a troubled industry
Despite structural difficulties in the North American automotive industry, Crestview had a positive outlook on automotive safety systems due to their importance to both consumers and regulators. Key Safety was one of only four global suppliers with a full passive safety product portfolio and significant opportunity to gain share.
We recruited industry veterans to the board who were effective in working with management to secure new customers. As a result, Key Safety grew at more than twice the rate of the industry, and sales in Asia grew to over 40% of total revenue in 2015 versus 16% in 2006.
Support through the global financial crisis
Management’s ability to execute these growth initiatives was severely challenged during the global financial crisis. Crestview and management worked closely together to execute numerous strategies to creatively lower the company's outstanding indebtedness and maintain adequate liquidity to allow the company to fully realize its global potential as the global economy recovered.
